Privacy Policy
Effective October 31, 2026
- Duri listens only to the calls it answers or that you connect through it, to screen callers and warn about scams.
- Transcripts are kept 30 days by default. When Duri asks a caller who they are and why they're calling, it keeps a short recording of the answer for 8 days. Recording the whole call is off unless you turn it on.
- Family members see what you choose to share with them, and you can change that anytime.
- We never sell your information and never use your calls for advertising.
- On duri.ai we use Meta's tools to see which of our ads work. You can turn that off: Do not sell or share my info.
Duri is a call-protection service operated by Boonwerks Inc. ("Boonwerks", "we", "us"). This policy explains what information Duri collects through the Duri apps for iPhone and Android, the duri.ai website and the Duri phone service (together, the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information we collect
Account information
Your name, email address, password (stored only as a secure hash) and the mobile number Duri protects. If you set up Duri for someone else, such as a parent, we collect that person's name and mobile number, and your name as the person who set it up.
Calls Duri answers
When your carrier forwards a call to Duri, or you connect a call through Duri, we process:
- the caller's phone number, the time and length of the call, and how it ended (call metadata);
- the call audio, which we convert to text with speech recognition to show live captions, screen the caller and detect scam warning signs;
- what the caller says when Duri asks their name and reason for calling, which we keep as a short recording for 8 days so you can listen to it, and any voicemail they leave;
- Duri's results: a risk level, the reasons for it, short summaries and translations.
Callers hear that the call may be recorded before Duri processes what they say.
Duri as interpreter
If you ask Duri to interpret during a call, the speech of both people on the call is transcribed and translated so each side can hear and read the other in their own language.
Text message filtering (iPhone, optional)
If you turn on Duri's message filter in your iPhone settings, iOS may send the text of messages from unknown senders to our server so we can tell you whether a message looks like a scam. We classify the message and do not keep its content.
Family and trusted contacts
If you invite a family member or trusted contact, we store the link between your accounts and the sharing choices you make.
Payments
Plans and call credits are sold on duri.ai and billed by Boonwerks. Card payments are processed by Stripe; we receive your billing status, the last four digits and brand of your card and your purchase history, but not your full card number.
Visits to duri.ai
When you visit duri.ai we count the pages you view, whether you play an example call and whether you start signing up. We also note how you got here: the ad or campaign named in the link, the click number Meta or Google adds to their ad links, a creator's code, and the website you came from. If you create an account, we keep where your first and latest visits came from with your account. We do not record the pages you view under your name. Cloudflare Web Analytics counts visits for us without cookies.
Questions you type into "Ask Duri" on the example calls are sent to an AI service that picks the best prepared answer. We don't store them.
Creator and partner program
Creator links (duri.ai/ followed by a creator's name) and mistyped duri.ai addresses pass through our partner site, partners.boonwerks.com, which counts the visit and sends you back to duri.ai. If you came through a creator's link, we tell the partner program when you create an account and when you pay or get a refund: your Duri account number, the amount, the creator's code and the visit id from their link. It never gets your name, email or phone number, and nothing about your calls.
Meta Pixel and Conversions API
Unless you opt out, duri.ai uses the Meta Pixel. It tells Meta which duri.ai pages you open, that you played an example call or created an account, together with Meta's own cookies and your browser's details. It is not used on your account or checkout pages.
When you buy a plan, and again if your two-week trial turns into a paid membership, our server tells Meta about it: the amount, Meta's click number and browser cookie, the IP address and browser details from when you signed up or paid, your country, and, in scrambled (hashed) form, your email address, your own first and last name and your Duri account number. This lets Meta match the purchase to the ad you saw. We keep the IP address and browser details only until your trial ends or turns into a membership, and your name only in scrambled form. We never send Meta the name or phone number of the person Duri protects, anything about calls, or anything from the Duri apps. Meta uses this to measure and improve our ads, under Meta's Privacy Policy.
Device and usage information
The app version, device type and operating system, push-notification tokens, app-integrity checks, crash reports and basic usage events, used to deliver alerts, keep the Service secure and fix problems.
How we use information
- To answer and screen calls, show captions and translations, and recommend whether to pick up.
- To detect scam warning signs and alert you and, if you choose, your family.
- To keep transcripts, recordings and voicemail for the times listed below so you can review them.
- To run your account, bill for plans and credits, and provide support.
- To secure the Service, prevent fraud and abuse, and comply with the law.
- To learn which ads, creators and pages bring people to Duri, and to measure our ads with Meta, as described above.
- To measure and improve how well Duri screens calls. We do not use your call content to train third-party advertising or sell it.
How long we keep it
| Information | Default | Your choices |
|---|---|---|
| Call transcripts | 30 days | Turn off, or keep up to 90 days |
| Recording of the caller's answer when Duri asks who they are and why they're calling | 8 days | None |
| Voice messages family members send you during a call | 7 days | None |
| Recordings of the whole call | Off | Turn on to keep up to 7 days |
| Risk results and call history | While your account is open | Delete calls in the app |
| Text messages checked by the filter | Not kept | Turn the filter off in iPhone settings |

When a retention period ends, the content is deleted or anonymized, except where we must keep it for a legal, security or fraud-prevention reason.
Who we share it with
We share information only as described here:
- Your family and trusted contacts, according to the sharing settings you choose: alerts only, or also summaries, transcripts and recordings.
- Service providers that process it for us under contract: telephone carriers and calling infrastructure, speech recognition, translation and AI analysis, voice generation (Duri's spoken voice), phone-number lookup and reputation services (to check whether a number is a known scam: line-type and spam-report services), cloud hosting, push notifications, email delivery, crash reporting and payments (Stripe). They may use it only to provide their service to us.
- Our creator and partner program, as described in "Creator and partner program", for visits that came through a creator's link.
- Meta, to measure our ads, as described in "Meta Pixel and Conversions API", unless you opt out.
- For legal reasons, when required by law or to protect people from harm or fraud.
- In a business transfer, if Boonwerks is involved in a merger or sale, subject to this policy.
We do not sell personal information for money. Under California law, letting Meta measure our ads this way can count as "sharing" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising. To opt out, use Do not sell or share my info, or turn on Global Privacy Control in your browser. We honour Global Privacy Control automatically: with it on, duri.ai loads no Meta Pixel and our server sends Meta nothing about your purchase.
Your choices and rights
- Change transcript and recording retention, family sharing and alerts in the app.
- Unlink a family member or trusted contact at any time.
- Ask us for a copy of your information, or to correct or delete it, by writing to [email protected].
- Delete your account in the app or as described on Delete your account.
- Opt out of the sharing described above on Do not sell or share my info.
Depending on your state, you may have additional rights under laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Act. We will not treat you differently for using them.
Recording and consent
Duri tells callers that a call may be recorded before it processes their speech. Some states require the consent of everyone on a call. You are responsible for using recording, transcription and interpreting only where you have the permissions the law requires.
Children
Duri is for adults 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We protect information with encryption in transit, access controls and app-integrity checks. No system is perfectly secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Where we operate
Duri is offered in the United States and Canada. Information is processed in the United States, including for people in Canada.
Changes to this policy
We will post changes here and update the date above. If a change materially affects how we use your information, we will tell you in the app or by email before it takes effect.
